Wow, tough question, but I’ll give it a try.

Ethos is about credibility, and I think the name VERA WANG says that. It’s the first thin you see when you read the add. It’s like the add is saying, “You know Vera Wang wouldn’t put her name on just anything.” That’s the basic idea behind branding anyway.

Pathos is about appealing to our emotions. I think the image of the woman is the main thing, it makes you feel relaxed, casual, but still very beautiful. The way Princess is written, in scrawly handwriting, the way the woman’s crown is tilted, her wind-blown hair, the way her dress is casually draped over her arm, I think all of these things make you feel the “effortless beauty” of the product.

And Logos, that’s the hardest. I think if the add said something, like “This perfume smells really good too.” That would help. But it’s hard to say where the reason is. Why would I buy this perfume? i think the reasoning comes from within the viewer. She might look at this add and this woman and want to be her. So, this woman wears Vera Wang’s Princess perfume, so why shouldn’t she. If she wore this perfume, she would be beautiful too.

It’s so sad but true, making us feel bad about our selves sells products. This is a really tough question, but I hope this gives you a start.
